We have constructed a fullerene source capable of producing intense beams of cold molecules. The source works analogously to gas aggregation cluster sources and has been demonstrated to cool molecules to close to liquid nitrogen temperatures as demonstrated by the presence of clusters of fullerene molecules. The vibrationally cold molecules allow high resolution spectroscopic investigations through two photon ionisation. Application of short pulse lasers allow real time investigations of the decays of electronically excited states and will give information on the nature of the vibronic coupling in the molecules.
