Energetic particle observations in high heliographic latitudes — •Erhard Keppler — Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie, Max-Planck-Strase 2, 37191 Katlenburg-Lindau
Ulysses moved its way after Jupiter flyby towards -80o heliographic latitude, then passed in a rapid scan through the low latitude region towards +80o and is since then at present on its way to aphelion at +20o. Besides the observation of shock accelerated particles in CIR’s and their directional distribution in 4π, the directional distribution of anomalous oxygen has been measured. The latitudinal gradients of galactic cosmic rays and of anomalous oxygen has been determined. From the observed CIR accelerated particles for ranging conclusions on the topology of the heliospheric magnetic field can bee drawn.
