Sphalerons and Black Holes in SU(4) Einstein-Yang-Mills Theory — •Marion Wirschins, Abha Sood, Jutta Kunz, and Burkhard Kleihaus — Fachbereich Physik, Universität Oldenburg, Postfach 2503, D-26111 Oldenburg, Germany

The most general spherically symmetric ansatz for the magnetic part of the gauge field in SU(4) Einstein-Yang-Mills theory contains three independent functions, u1, u2 and u3. Choosing Schwarzschild-like coordinates for the metric, we first construct regular solutions. These magnetically neutral sphaleron solutions are characterized by the number of nodes of the three matter field functions, (n1,n2,n3). By introducing a regular event horizon neutral black hole solutions are obtained. In the magnetically charged black hole solutions, however, one or two of the gauge field functions are identically zero, which can be interpreted as representing the limit of an infinite number of nodes. By classifying the possible types of charged solutions, we obtain five classes: 1. an embedded Reissner-Nordström solution with charge P=√10, 2. and 3. scaled SU(2)-like solutions with charge P=√9, 4. SU(2)×SU(2)-like solutions with charge P=√8 and 5. SU(3)-like solutions with charge P=√6. The extreme black hole solutions have horizon xH=P. There are no such charged black hole solutions with smaller horizons and no such regular solutions.
