Conformally induced changes of signature, singularities and horizons in scalar tensor theories — •Martin Rainer — Kosmologie, Inst. für Mathematik, PF 601553, D-14415 Potsdam
We consider scalar-tensor theories with gravity coupled to one or more scalar fields under conformal transformation. Examples for signature changes in the space of scalar fields are known. Another possible phenomenon is an existence of singularities or horizons in one frame but not in a conformally related one. The question is whether we can systematically classify those conformal transformations on a given class of scalar tensor theories which preserve e.g. the signature in the space of the scalar fields, or which preserve regularity properties, singularities or horizons.
