Boson stars and dark matter halos — •Franz E. Schunck1 and Eckehard W. We present new solutions for the Einstein-Klein-Gordon equations. For a massive complex scalar field, the spherically symmetric solutions are well-known as boson stars; we introduce the rotating boson star models. The solutions for a massless complex scalar field can be applied to fit the observational data of rotation curves of spiral and dwarf galaxies where one expects to find dark matter halos. In this way, one can accommodate the phenomenological Tully-Fisher velocity luminosity relation. A self-similarity found in the profiles of the observed rotation curves is also discovered within the theoretical model.
