On the Origin of the Coexistence of Instantons and Monopoles — •H. Markum1 and Z. Schram2 — 1Institut für Kernphysik, Technische Universität, A-1040 Wien — 2Department of Theoretical Physics, Kossuth University, H-4010 Debrecen
Correlation functions between instantons and monopoles in maximal abelian projection have indicated a nontrivial correspondence between these topological objects. This could be demonstrated both for SU(2) and SU(3) gauge theory in four dimensions [1]. Switching on dynamical quarks it was seen that such correlations between topological objects exist also in full QCD and additionally between the chiral condensate. Visualization of specific gauge configurations clearly exhibited the local coexistence of instantons and monopoles. Searching for the origin of these coincidences we momentarily analyze the spatial distribution of Polyakov loops and of the gauge field elements. Further we plan to investigate the situation for other gauges than the maximal abelian which seems to have a special physical relevance.
