Elastic electroproduction of ρ⁰ mesons for 0.25<Q²<0.85 GeV² at HERA — •T. Monteiro — DESY

In 1995 an electromagnetic calorimeter covering positron scattering angles between 17 and 35 mrad was installed into the ZEUS detector, at HERA. It has allowed the study of the reaction ep → eρ⁰p(ρ⁰→ π⁺π⁻) for photon-proton center of mass energy W_γ^⋆p between 20 and 90 GeV, photon virtuality Q² between 0.25 and 0.85 GeV² and ∣ t ∣ < 0.6 GeV², where t is the squared four-momentum transferred at the proton vertex. The cross section for the reaction γ^⋆p → ρ⁰p and elements of the ρ⁰ spin-density matrix are presented as function of W_γ^⋆p, Q² and t and compared to phenomenological predictions.
