We report on µSR experiments in zero, longitudinal (LF) and transversal (TF) external magnetic fields on CeAs and CeP single crystals.
In CeAs a spontaneously precessing signal has been found below the antiferromagnetic transition. From an analysis of the field dependence of the relaxation rate of this signal in different crystal orientations parallel to the muon spin and the applied longitudinal field, a <100> orientation of the local field at the muon site is concluded. This supports an AF-I single-k→ magnetic ordering and a muon site of lower than cubic symmetry. In CeP no such precessing signal has been found in the magnetically ordered phase.
In both compounds Knight shift and muon relaxation rate measurements in 0.6T TF have been performed in different crystal orientations and will be interpreted with regards to the formation of magnetic polarons in the paramagnetic phases.
