UV and VUV emission spectra of CsF, CsCl and RbF ionic exciplexes in condensed rare gases — •G. Śliwiński (1) and N. Schwentner — Institut für Experimentalphysik, FU Berlin, Arnimallee 14, D-14195 Berlin; (1)P. A. Sci., IF-FM, Fiszera 14, PL 80-952 Gdańsk

The emissions of ionic alkalihalide (AX)+ exciplexes due to the B2Σ→ X2Σ transitions of Cs2+Fand Cs2+Cl recorded in the gas phase are confirmed for CsF and CsCl isolated in Ne and Ar matrices under e-beam excitation. The C-A transition could be only observed in the condensed phase (solid Ne) at 227 nm (CsF) and at 249.2 nm (CsCl). From the energy level scheme a favourable population of the A2+X states by ionisation of the trapped AX molecules via Ne excitons originating from the e-beam excitation follows for the condensed phase. A quenching of the B-X luminescence is observed for both CsF and CsCl at high concentration. The VUV measurements for RbF in solid Ne show sharp bands at 105.5 and 122 nm close to the expected B and C state transitions. An investigation of the D-X transition for CsF and CsCl is in progress.
