The collective dynamics of thin (µm-nm) free-standing ferro electric liquid crystalline films under electric excitation has been investigated by means of 2D-IR modulation spectroscopy. The frequency, voltage and temeperature dependence of the dynamic dichroism of several IR-absorption bands arising from different molecular moieties in the ferroelectric SmC* phase and the SmA phase are discussed.
