The AC conductance of a Luttinger liquid with an interaction potential of non-zero range and with an impurity is calculated by using path integrals [1]. The validity of several general relations for the local current and electric field distributions are demonstrated. It is explicitly shown that only in the DC limit the current is independent of the spatial shape of the electric field. Without impurity, we can use linear response theory, which is then exact. The intrinsic AC conductance of the system is defined as the inverse of the derivative of the dispersion relation of the dispersion relation of the interacting electrons. It shows a peak at a finite frequency which is related to plasmon-like charge wave excitations [2]. The frequency dependence of the conductance can be simulated by parameters that are the quantum analogs of classical resistances, inductances and capacitances. The possibilities of observing the predicted effects by experiment are discussed.
