Photoemission measurements have been performed on the HgTe(110) surface
which was prepared by cleavage. Energy distribution curves in the energy
range 8…26 eV have been taken in normal emission according to
the ΓΣX direction of the volume Brillouin zone.
In addition, EDCs have been measured along
the ΓX- and
the Γ X′-directions
of the surface Brillouin zone. Lack of dispersion in normal emission
and periodicity with the surface Brillouin zone hint at the existence
of surface states. These and experimental bulk band structure will be
discussed with respect to theoretical predictions.
