Dynamics of a test polymer chain in a glass forming matrix: The Hartree approximation — •V.G. Rostiashvili, M. Rehkopf, and T.A. Vilgis — Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung, Ackermannweg 10, 55021 Mainz
We consider the Langevin dynamics of a Gaussian polymer chain coupled to a surrounding matrix which can undergo the glass transition. The Martin-Siggia-Rose generating functional method and the nonpertubative Hartree approximation is used to derive a generalized Rouse equation (GRE). It is shown that the interaction with the matrix renormalizes the bare friction and spring constant of the test chain in such a way that a memory function as well as a bending dependend elastic modulus appear. We find that below the glass transition temperature TG of the matrix the Rouse modes of the test chain can be freezed and moreover the freezing temperatures Tc(p) depends from the Rouse mode index p.
