Quasiparticle band-structure of antiferromagnetic EuTe — •S. Mathi Jaya, W. Nolting, and S. Rex — Institut für Physik, Humboldt–Universität zu Berlin
A many-body model calculation (s-f model) is combined with a one-electron band-structure calculation (LMTO) to get the temperature dependent sublattice properties of the prototypical Heisenberg antiferromagnet EuTe. The results are discussed in terms of quasiparticle density of states and k-resolved spectral functions. A striking temperature dependence of the empty (5d,6s) conduction bands is observed as a consequence of the 4f-(5d,6s) interband exchange interaction. Strong correlations lead to dispersion splittings and the appearance of typical quasiparticles (magnetic polaron).
