We present results of a numerical study of a dimerized and frustrated Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain where the dimerization (δ) and frustration (α) parameters have been chosen appropriate for the quasi-1D spin-Peierls compound CuGeO3. We show evidence for the occurence of a bound state in the dynamical structure factor for nonzero dimerization δ and estimate the respective spectral weight. Therefore, we calculate the low-lying excitations and matrix elements for spin chains of up to 24 sites. For the homogeneous case (δ=0) we investigate the spin-wave velocity vs and its dependence on the frustration parameter α suggesting a renormalization of vs linear in α.
