Spectral correlations: Crossover from clean to diffusive systems — •Edward McCann and Klaus Richter — Max–Planck–Institut für Physik komplexer Systeme, Bayreuther Str. 40, 01187 Dresden
We consider the spectral statistics of non–interacting electrons in a ballistic microstructure in the presence of weak, finite range disorder. Energy and impurity averaging are performed within a diagrammatic perturbation approach applicable to the non–diffusive regime [1]. In contrast to the bulk, we do not assume translational invariance. Instead, we consider semiclassical Green’s functions in terms of classical paths which include the effect of boundary scattering. This allows us to study the crossover from clean to diffusive systems. We obtain analytic results for a square billiard at zero magnetic field and a thin–walled cylinder threaded by an Aharonov–Bohm flux. We also present numerical results for a square at finite magnetic field and study as an application its magnetization.
