FS COHERENT PHENOMENA IN CONDENSED MOLECULAR SYSTEMS BY INCOHERENT FLUORESCENCE FLUCTUATIONS — •Klemens Brunner, Andreas Tortschanoff, Christian Warmuth, and Harald Kauffmann — Inst. f. Phys. Chem., Univ. Wien, Waehringerstr.42, 1090 Wien
We want to report on novel fs interferometric experiments that use the fluorescence intensity fluctuations of correlated excited states to map out the complex relaxational channels of electronic and vibrational dephasing of pentacene in p-terphenyl. (Coherence Observation by Interference Noise, O. Kinroth et al. PRL, 75, 3822 (1995)) Pulses of a Ti/S-RegA-OPA-System tunable and phase randomized have been used to excite the four long-wavelength pentacene resonances (O1-O4) simultaneously in a Michelson interferometric configuration. The overall fluorescence intensity fluctuations of pentacene processed as a function of the pulse-to-pulse delay time (100fs to 3ps) have revealed electronic and vibronic beatings that open new aspects in the understanding of dephasing processes.
