We analyze the time development of a gas of patrons with the equation of state extracted from the lattice data. The increase of the mass of partons below Tc gives an effective confining mechanism. The effective equation of state is used in the description of the non-equilibrium development of a glob of quark-gluon plasma. The effective confining mass of the partons slows down the expansion and the cooling of the plasma.
