Exclusive measurements of the single-pion production reactions pp
→ dπ+ and pp → pnπ+ have been performed with the
WASA/PROMICE detector at CELSIUS in the energy range 350 MeV ≤
Tp ≤ 420 MeV. These reactions are very well suited for
calibration and performance checks of detector and accelerator. In
particular the pp → pnπ+ reaction provides continuum π+
spectra, which allow a detailed study of the detector response to
pions. However, aside from these features the pnπ+ channel is
also very interesting from the physics point of view. As we will
demonstrate, the measured particle spectra manifest strong influences
from Δ production and nucleon-nucleon final state interaction
in the reaction process.
