Measurements of πp analyzing powers at low energies and forward angles are planned at PSI. The newly developed PSI polarized scintillator target [1] will be used as a means of background suppression. Due to the constrained geometry of the light guide system in the cryogenic target the light collection efficiency is low, and only a well-designed system will provide the desired resolution. We will report on simulations and test measurements for optimization of the target light output.
