The strength distribution of low-lying dipole excitations in the medium-weight vibrational nucleus 112Cd was studied in nuclear resonance fluorescence experiments (NRF) performed at the bremsstrahlung beam of the Stuttgart Dynamitron accelerator (endpoint energy 4.1 MeV). Spectroscopic information on about 20 new spin 1 states in 112Cd have been obtained. The observed Jπ=1 states are described in the framework of the IBM model. The first 1 state has a B(E1) value to the ground-state as demanded for the 1 member of the quadrupole-octupole coupled (QOC) quintuplet. Finally, the results are compared with those from our previous NRF experiments [1] on the neighboring Cd isotopes 113,114Cd and with first data from our very recent NRF studies on 110,111,116Cd.
