Searches for Scalar Top and Bottom with the L3 Detector at LEP2 — •I. Iashvili and H. Nowak — Institut für Hochenergiephysik, DESY-Zeuthen, Germany
Scalar top (t) can be lightest charged Supersymmetric (SUSY) particle due to the large mixing between SUSY partners of left- and right-handed top quarks, and due to the negative radiative corrections through Higgsino-quark/Higgs-squark loops. For the t of mass within LEP2 kinematical reach, the possible decay modes are t → c χ10 and t → b l ν, which result to 2 jets + missing energy and 2 jets + 2 leptons + missing energy final states.
Scalar bottom (b) can be also light enough to be produced at LEP2. The most probable decay mode is b → b χ10 giving 2 jets + missing energy event topology.
Searches for t and b was performed at LEP2. No event excess was observed over Standard Model expectations in the hadronic events with energy imbalance (and two leptons). 95 % CL exclusion limits was set for the masses of t and b within the framework of Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model.
