A Measurement of pp → ΛΛ near Threshold* — •J. Hauffe — Physikalisches Institut, Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erwin-Rommel-Str. 1, D-91058 Erlangen
Using antiprotons from the Low Energy Antiproton Ring LEAR at CERN, a dedicated investigation of the reaction pp → ΛΛ at threshold has been performed. This especially includes a thorough scan of the 2 MeV region where some indication for a cross section anomaly had been observed in previous measurements. In all, the cross section is measured in 30 energy bins, ranging from below reaction threshold up to 6.0 MeV excess energy in steps of 250 keV. Additional data were taken at higher beam momenta especially for calibration purposes.
In this contribution we report on the total and differential cross sections and polarization observables.
