Compton Scattering of Polarized Photons on Polarized Proton — •Nanyoung Lee, M. Schumacher, F. Smend, and F. Wissmann — II. Physikalisches Institut, Universität Göttingen, Bunsenstraße 7-9, D-37073 Göttingen
The differential cross section of γ N scattering with
polarized photon and nucleon has been calculated in terms of six
invariant amplitudesAi for energies up to 800 MeV[1].
We apply these results to explore the possibility of obtaining
information on these amplitudes seperately, by using linearly and
circularly polarized photons and polarized protons with different
orientations. The amplitudes A1 and A4 are of special interest,
because they contain the GDH sum rule and the difference of
electromagnetic
polarizabilities α −β, respectively, as special cases.
Presented are numerical results for double-polarization differential cross
sections and beam-target asymmetries.
