Monte-Carlo-Simulations of an experimental setup for quasi-free π0 photoproduction on the neutron — •K. Kossert, M. Schumacher, B. Seitz, and F. Wissmann — II. Physikalisches Institut der Georg-August-Universit"at G"ottingen, D-37073 G"ottingen, Germany
Quasi-free π0–photoproduction on the neutron bound in the deuteron
is a very promising method to investigate the reaction
γ n → n π0 in the Δ–resonance region. The results of
such an experiment enter into the multipole analysis of the pion
photoproduction, and when using circularly polarized
photons and a polarized target, they are an important part in determining
the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule of the neutron.
To this aim a detector setup with a high detection efficiency for both
π0 and the neutron, has to be build. We present Monte-Carlo
simulations of a combined TAPS-TOF setup for an experiment at MAMI.
Our simulations were done with the GEANT code. An event generator was
developed using the differential cross sections of the reaction
γ d → π0 n p in the quasi-free region [1].
