The Control System of the Polarized Ion Source for COSY — •Martin Glende1, P.D. Eversheim2, and R. Gebel1 — 1Institut für Kernphysik, Forschungszentrum Jülich, Postfach 1913, 52425 Jülich — 2Institut für Strahlen- und Kernphysik, Nu"sallee 14-16, 53115 Bonn
The control system for the polarized ion source was designed to handle 250
parameters within 1/3 second. This concept allows a quasi-analog display
of any of these parameters on a terminal, since their actual values are read
back continuosly.
The data-acquisition and -handling is split up among three computer systems.
The interlock-logic is handled by a SPS (systemprogrammable control),
the convinient control and connection to a LAN is provided by a PC
and the data transfer between the SPS and the PC is organized by a
seperate computer.
At present about 100 parameters are handled 20 times a second.
Further properties of this control will be discussed.
