A Multi-Purpose-Xilinx-FPGA-Board — •R. Becker, W. K"uhn, J. Ritman, M. Petri, J. Lehnert, E. Lins, and C. Lichtblau — II.Physikalisches Institut, Universit"at Gie"sen, Heinrich-Buff-Ring 16, D-35392 Gie"sen
We have developed a Multi-Purpose-Xilinx-FPGA-Board with the following features:
The board is equipped with multichannel AD- and DA-converters to handle analog data, additional digital
inputs are also foreseen. All digital signals are directly connected to a Xilinx 4020E-FPGA
which is mounted in a special 208 pin PQFP-socket, and hence is replaceable by any other pin compatible
programmable logic device.
This provides the capability to examine the suitability of new devices for the HADES trigger system.
Signals can be visualized with an on-board 20× 2-Dot-Matrix Display.
Data exchange with a standard PC can be done via the PC’s parallel port. This port can optionally operate in EPP-mode which allowes bidirectional data transferes up to 10 Mb/s.
Programming of the FPGA has been done with VHDL.
This board can be used in many simple applications, e.g. for process control, data aquisition and signal generation.
