In experiments with the magnetic spectrometer ANKE at COSY tracks of reaction products will be registered with MWPC’s. In total 11,000 wires must be read out at each event. Reduction of the quantity of data is achieved through creation of a list of hit wires, using the 16 channel integrated circuits RAL 111, mounted directly on the chamber, following the amplifier and discriminator chips. The data are sent to a special CAMAC readout module, which permits subevent building and which transfers the data via a front panel ECL-bus to a crate controller with PCI-bus interface. An industrial PC with UNIX operating system (NetBSD) controls the CAMAC crate and sends the data to the central eventbuilder PC.
