To improve Doppler-correction capabilities in gamma-ray spectroscopy experiments attention is focused presently on segmented HPGe detectors as well as on techniques of pulse shape analysis of the detector signal. Merging both approaches, we report on recent systematic scans of Segmented Clover and Double-D Ge detectors. The observed position resolution varies between 3mm and 10mm independent of the γ-ray energies ranging from 121keV to 1408keV. To test the applicability and effectiveness of algorithms processing the digitized pulses, a Coulomb excitation experiment, exploiting the γ-decay of excited 197Au beam nuclei has been performed at GSI. We shall discuss results of the analysis.
