An effective quasi-particle description [1] of strongly interacting
systems is shown to reproduce the thermodynamical properties of both
the pure SU(3) plasma [2] as well as plasmas containing several light
flavors of quarks [3].
The model is extended to non-zero quark chemical potential which so
far was not implemented in lattice calculations.
This gives an estimate of the equation of state p(T,µ) of deconfined
matter produced in the course of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions.
The relation of the model [1] to exact QCD thermodynamics is discussed.
