The Gottfried sum measures the flavor asymmetry of the antiquark distribution in the nucleon, which is experimentally non-zero. The large–Nc picture of the nucleon as a soliton of the effective chiral theory naturally leads to a flavor–asymmetric antiquark distribution [1]. We compute the Gottfried sum as well as the flavor–nonsinglet quark distribution functions in the chiral soliton model and compare with the experimental data.
