In the context of ion beam induced attenuations of Transient Magnetic Fields (TF) it was found, that ferromagnetic amorphous Fe-B alloys are extremely useful as deteriorating effects by the beam ions on the magnetization and the TF strength accordingly are substantially reduced [1]. This follows from the disordered structure of Fe-B alloys by which the spreading of the perturbation from the ion’s track is more confined than in pure crystalline Fe. For H-like ions like Mg and Si, for which the TF attenuations in Fe are very much pronounced (∼ 80%), the TF strengths could be increased by factors 2-3. For heavier probe ions like 56Fe and 80Se the data are compatible with non-attenuated fields. On the other hand we could show that the strength parameter ’a’ in Fe-B [2] is as large as in pure Fe which demonstrates the over-all superiority of this material for g-factor measurements.
