An exited recoiling nucleus of a compound nuclear reaction passing a polarized ferromagnetic foil interacts with transient magnetic fields. This leads to a precession of the angular distribution of the emitted γ-rays. Observing these Larmor-precessions one can deduce the g-factor of the involved states [1-2].
With the new developed Recoil Distance Transient Field method it was possible for the first time to deduce selectively g-factors of short-lived high spin states after the heavy ion reaction 58Ni+32S. We report on results in 87Nb, 84Zr und 86Zr [3-4].
