Near threshold can the total cross section in the phenomenological model of Gell-Mann and Watson [1] and Rosenfeld [2] for the reaction pp → dπ+ be expressed in terms of the relative pion momentum in C.M. η = p π / mπ c : σ = α η + β η3. Due to Coulomb interactions between the charged particles in the exit channel, which are not negligible in this energy region, Coulomb factors G0(for s-wave) and G1(for p-wave) have to be included in the relation above: σ = α G0 η + β G1 η3. In this work G0 (η) and G1( η ) are calculated for a range 0.01<η <0.6 , taking into account deuteron charge extension. The interaction between the nucleons was assumed to be described by the Bonn potential. It can be seen that for higher momenta the Coulomb force doesn’t contribute to the cross section. Comparison between these results and those for point-like deuterons is presented as well.
