High Precision Beam Monitor for Synchrotron Radiation Experiments — •S.N. Ahmed, H.J. Besch, and A.H. Walenta — Fachbereich Physik, Universit"at Siegen, Walter-Flex-Str. 3, 57068 Siegen
A single channel, high precision ionization chamber has been built for monitoring the intensity of x-rays in the low energy range. The chamber has been designed to work in the energy range from 5 to 20keV. It can be used in experiments, such as EXAFS, where simultaneous high precision monitoring of the intensity during the actual experiment is required. In this report the construction of the chamber and its performance during recent test measurements with an x-ray tube are presented. The aim of the project is to achieve a precision in intensity measurement of 1 part in 10 thousands. Recent measurements have shown accuracy approaching the desired value.
