Bragg scattering of Bose-Einstein condensates from a cavity — •F. Burgbacher and J. Audretsch — Universität Konstanz, Fakultät für Physik, AG Audretsch, Fach M674, 78457 Konstanz
The Bragg scattering of an ultracold quantum gas of atoms by a standing cavity mode with resonant dipole-dipole interaction taken into account is considered. Because of the broken translational symmetry, the dipole-dipole interaction in a cavity is not the same as in free space. In a one mode approximation it turns out, that although the governing equation is a nonlinear integro-differential equation, Bragg scattering is not substantially modified as compared with the one particle case. Only the timescale for Bragg reflection is shifted.
