Recent observations of Bose-condensates in traps inspire a raised theoretical interest in this field. We study the ground state of a condensed Bose-gas trapped in an external potential. It is interesting to take into account the medium modification of the scattering length in the Gross-Pitaevskii-equation and, in the attractive case, to investigate the competition between the condensation of single particles and the condensation of pairs. The influence of a finite range potential on the system properties shall be investigated.
