We study the Bose-Einstein condensation with a fixed number of particles. On the basis of conventional statistical mechanics we introduce a novel ensemble, the so-called Maxwell’ demon ensemble, where only particle transfer (without energy exchange) is allowed. We demonstrate that the Maxwell’s demon ensemble can be used for a microcanonical description of the system. We compare our findings with the conventional analysis [2,3] and find perfect agreement.
