MCD in resonant Photoemission at the Gd MIV,V edge — •Z. Hu, G. van der Laan, K. Starke, and G. Kaindl — Institut für Experimentalphysik, Freie Universität Berlin, Arnimallee 14, 14195 Berlin, Germany
We report on the analysis of multiplet finestructures in the MCD signal of the
Gd MIV,V x-ray absorption spectra (XAS) and in the associate resonant 4d-
and 4f-Photoemission(PE) spectra. The experimental resonant 4f-PE spectra are
found to be well reproduced by atomic multiplet theory, including minute
detailes of the MCD signal of the so-called spin-flip 5X states. A
comparison with resonant 4f-PE at the Gd NIV,V edge [1] will be presented.
