Angular Dependence of Magnetic Dichroism in 4f-Photoemission — •S. Gorovikov, S. Bode, K. Starke, and G. Kaindl — Institut für Experimentalphysik, Freie Universität Berlin, Arnimallee 14, 14195 Berlin, Germany
The applikation of Magnetic Dichroism in core-level Photoemission (MDPE) as
magnetometer has been restricted to the detection of relative magnetization
changes[1]. At the example of Gd(0001) 4f-PE line and circular-light
excitation we have investigated the dependence of MCD signal on the electron
emission direction. We observe drastic changes which are explained by
photoelectron diffraction influences on the top of the expected angular
variation in the atomic limit[2].
