Periodically   driven   scattering   in   the   Floquet   formalism — •M. Henseler, T. Dittrich, and K. Richter — Max-Planck-Institut für Physik komplexer Systeme, Dresden

We study the scattering off periodically time-dependent obstacles in the framework of the Floquet formalism, adapted to quantum scattering problems. It allows us to avoid all restrictions imposed by perturbative, adiabatic, semiclassical, or other approximation schemes, on frequency or amplitude of the driving. Moreover, it enables to investigate realistic harmonic driving fields (as opposed to delta-like kicks) in a very effective manner. The Floquet theory replaces energy with quasienergy conservation and implies a generalized concept of scattering channel, labeled by the number of driving-field photons gained or lost during the scattering. Due to the time dependence, it is possible to consider the quantum signatures of a classically irregular scattering even in one-dimensional models. A cosine-driven square well and 1/(cosh  x)2 potential, with, respectively, pseudointegrable and chaotic classical dynamics, are chosen as working examples. We calculate partial and total transmissions and reflections, as well as other characteristic quantities like the dwell time, and outline implications for quantum transport.
