Catalytic CO oxidation on thin Pt single crystal — •S. Cerasari — Fritz-Haber-Institut Berlin, Faradayweg 4-6, 14195 Berlin
To exploit a detectable surface temperature gradient, Pt- catalyzed CO oxidation has to be conducted at ambient pressures, precluding the use of standard surface science techniques. Here a different approach has been used: heat dissipation into the bulk has been reduced by orders of magnitudes thanks to the availability of very thin Pt crystals. Investigations on the influence of local heating and acoustic wave excitation under non-isothermal condition are presented.
