Quantum Coulomb glass: the role of spin — •S. Kilina, Thomas Vojta, and M. Schreiber — Technische Universität D-09107 Chemnitz
The properties of disordered interacting electrons in the metallic phase are known to be strongly influenced by the electron spin. In contrast, in the past most investigations of the insulating phase have used models of spinless electrons.
We generalize the prototype model of the insulating phase, viz. the quantum Coulomb glass by including the electron spin. The resulting model is investigated numerically by exact diagonalization. In particular, we calculate both the many-body density of states and investigate localization properties of the many-particle states in Fock space. We also study the localization of single-particle excitations and compare the cases of spinless and spinful electrons.
