In a recent experiment the cross section ratio R=σpp→ pK+Λ/σpp→ pK+Σ0 was measured [1].
R turned out to be of the order of 30. A conversion of Σ→Λ via the hyperon-nucleon final state interraction
was suggested as a possible explanation. We discuss the influence of the hyperon-nucleon interaction on the
associated strangeness production. For the production operator a simple model is employed
whereas the FSI is included by means
of realistic Y-N interactions [2,3]
that allow to study the effects of channel coupling.
