X-rays from antiprotonic hydrogen have been measured by LEAR experiment PS207 both directly using CCD detectors and with a high resolution crystal spectrometer. The results for the hadronic s- and p-wave interaction are discussed and compared to theoretical predictions. Summarizing the results obtained from this and previous protonium experiments performed before the shut-down of LEAR, it turns out that, although rather precise values have been obtained for the spin-averaged strong interaction parameters, especially for the 1s ground state the situation remains unsatisfactorily with regard to the individual hyperfine components. A remeasurement of the 2p-1s transitions both for antiprotonic hydrogen and deuterium is desirable. Possible measurement schemes are discussed based on the AD facility presently set up at CERN [1]. +EU fellow (contract no, FMBICT950378)
