A projection technique is used in Dirac Brueckner Hartree Fock calculations to analyse the relativistic nucleon-nucleon interaction, the G-matrix. To avoid the ambiguity between pseudoscalar and pseudovector coupling the one-pion exchange is treated separately. This allows to describe the G-matrix in terms of an effective meson exchange model. The density dependence of the corresponding isoscalar and isovector coupling constants are discussed. The structure of the nucleon self-energy is investigated.
