A very challenging task in nuclear structure physics is the study of the nuclei at the N=Z line. The investigation of odd-odd N=Z nuclei should give an insight into the role of the T=0 and T=1 pairing interaction and especially into the dependence of its strength on excitation energy, angular momentum and deformation.
In the N=Z=35 nucleus 70Br no excited states are known so far. To search for excited states in this nucleus we have performed an experiment at the MP Tandem accelerator of the MPI Heidelberg using the 58Ni(16O,p3n) reaction at 95 MeV beam energy. The target consisted of a 5 mg/cm2 thick 58Ni foil. Coincidences of γ rays, neutrons and charged particles have been measured using the Rossendorf EUROBALL Cluster detector, 3 individual HPGe detectors, the particle detector ball RoSiB with 40 Si detectors and a reduced version of the EUROBALL neutron wall including 20 liquid scintillators.
Experimental techniques which provide the channel selectivity will be discussed and preliminary results will be presented.
