The REX-ISOLDE IH-Structure — •S. Emhofer, D. Habs, O. Kester, H. Bongers, and T. Sieber — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Am Coulombwall 1, D-85748 Garching
For the REX-ISOLDE-Project an IH-drift-tube-linac has been developed, which is similar to the IH-accelerators of the Lead-LINAC at CERN and the GSI-HLI. The REX-ISOLDE IH-structure is used as an accelerator for radioactive ions with a charge to mass ratio of 4.5. The ions are injected with an energy of 300 keV/u and accelerated to variable energies between 1.1 MeV/u to 1.2 MeV/u. The change of of the final energy can be achieved by adjusting the gap voltage distribution via capacitive plungers. The resonator has a length of 1.5 m with 20 gaps inside. It operates at a resonant-frequency of 101,28 MHz with a duty cycle of 10 percent. The mechanical and electrodynamical design of this accelerator will be presented as well as first perturbation-ball measurements on the IH-resonator. These will be compared with measurements on the 1:2 downscaled model.
