Discrepancies in A ratios for the isotopes 151,153Eu+ observed in the ground and the excited states — •E Stachowska, J.Dembczyński1 and G Werth2 — 1Chair of Atomic Physics, Poznań University of Technology, ul. Piotrowo 3, 60-965 Poznań, Poland — 2Institut für Physik, Universität Mainz, 55099 Mainz
Recently, using a microwave-optical double resonance technique, the hyperfine structure splitting of the excited 4f7 6s 7S3 levels of the both stable europium isotopes 151,153Eu+ has been measured with high accuracy of 10−7 and the ratio of the relevant A-factors has been determined: A(151Eu+ 7S3)/A(153Eu+ 7S3)=2.2503957 (4) [1]. It differs more than the experimental error from that obtained for the ground state A(151Eu+ 9S4)/A(153Eu+ 9S4)=2.25003493(4) [2]. We try to explain the discrepancy due to effect of electrostatic and magnetic coupling of the states under study with states of other configurations via nucleus. The analysis of the hyperfine structure (hfs) in many configurations approximation has been performed up to second-order of perturbation theory with the use of semi-empirical method. In the analysis the effects of the one- and two-body electron excitations on the hfs have been considered. The results of the hfs analysis will be discussed.
