Intrinsic studies of irrotational dust models — •C.F. Sopuerta — Universität Jena
Irrotational dust models are solutions of Einstein’s equations suitable for the description of some cosmological and astrophysical issues (gravitational instability mechanism, evolution of inhomogeneities, etc.). Recently, some particular classes of these models have been studied. Among them, silent universes [1] received a lot of attention due to the local character of their evolution equations. However, recent studies [2,3] pointed out that they are too restrictive and that possibly only some known solutions are included. Moreover, other studies [4,5] show that restrictions on the electric and magnetic parts of the Weyl tensor lead to indefinite chains of constraints. Here, we take a different approach to the study of irrotational dust models, which is based on the properties of the hypersurfaces orthogonal to the fluid velocity. In this way, we study the characterization and description of irrotational dust models in terms of the geometry and symmetries of these hypersurfaces.
